Saint John ruined old church

The partially ruined church dedicated to Saint John is located below the Our Lady monastery of mayfouk, a few steps from the river. Having a rectangular plan measuring 12 x 7 m, the church is built with poor quality white rough limestone blocks. The church’s interior is made up of a single nave accessible through a door which opens in its western wall. This nave is covered with a broken barrel vault and its walls have preserved their original lime coating. Traces of blue paint, typical of similar churches, are still preserved on this coating’s surfaces. On the eastern side, the nave ends with a narrowed apse with a flat bottom, partially collapsed.
