Saint Saba Church in Barnassa area with romano-byzantine tombs

The church of Saint Sabas, located in the Barnasa area, to the north of Mayfouk, is surrounded by several multi-centenary-old oak trees as well as a set of rock tombs which date back to the Romano-Byzantine era. The area seems to have been occupied by a settlement as evidenced, in addition to the tombs, by a set of scattered blocks which would have belonged to various constructions. As for the church, with its medieval character, it is built with a mixture of large, medium and small blocks, some of them being reused from more ancient buildings. Its internal space is composed of a single nave covered with a barrel vault and ending with a semi-circular apse covered by a spherical cap originating from a protruding cornice.
